枫香，又名白胶香、百日材、三角枫，金缕梅科落叶乔木。叶阔卵形，掌状3裂，揉之有香味。雄花短穗状花序，雌花头状花序。头状花序圆球形，果实为小蒴果。种子多角形或有窄翅。每年11-12月入秋时，树叶变红。枫香是我国南方著名的红叶树种之一，不但有材用、药用、园艺、提取香料等用途，还可培植食用菌，广泛分布于秦岭及淮河以南各省。

物候期：花期5-6月，果期7-9月。

Liquidambar formosana, commonly known as the Formosan gum, and Chinese sweet gum, is a deciduous tree in the family Hamamelidaceae. leaf blade broadly ovate, palmately 3-lobed, and having a pleasant aroma when crushed. Male inflorescence a short spike, several arranged in a raceme. Female inflorescence capitate. The seeds are polygonal or with narrow wings. the leaves turn red in autumn from November to December. Liquidambar formosana is one of the famous red-leaved tree species in southern China. It has various uses, including timber, medicinal, and ornamental purposes. It also serves as a cultivation substrate for edible mushrooms and is widely distributed in provinces south of the Qinling Mountains and Huai River.

풍향 단풍나무(Liquidambar formosana Hance)는 백교향, 백일재, 삼각단풍, 금루매과 낙엽교목이라고도 한다. 잎이 넓고 달걀 모양이며 손바닥이 세 번 갈라져 비비면 향기가 난다. 수컷의 짧은 이삭 모양의 꽃차례이며 암컷의 머리 모양의 꽃차례이다. 머리 모양의 꽃차례는 둥근 모양이고 열매는 작은 삭과이다. 씨앗은 다각형이거나 좁은 날개가 있다. 매년 11~12월에 가을이 되면 나뭇잎이 붉어진다. 풍향 단풍나무는 중국 남방의 유명한 단풍수종의 하나로서 재료용, 약용, 원예, 향료추출 등 용도가 있을 뿐만 아니라 식용균도 배양할수 있으며 진령과 회하 이남 각 성에 널리 분포되어어있다.
