此处岩体为官草湖组凝灰质砾岩,节理裂隙较发育。相传南宋末代皇帝宋帝昺(Bǐng)逃难至此处,身心疲惫,面对此石思母心切,依稀可见母亲妆容,故而得名“思母石”。
The Grotesquely-shaped rock here is tuffaceous conglomerate of the Cretaceous Guancaohu Formation, and the joints and fissures are developed. According to the legend, the late emperor Zhao Bing of the Southern Song Dynasty fled to this place and felt exhausted. Facing the stone, he remembered fondly his mother and seemed to see his mother. Therefore, it is called Simu stone.
