交错层理通常也称为斜层理，是由一系列斜交于层系界面的纹层组成，纹层与层系间的关系可以通过彼此重叠、交错、切割的方式组合。这种层理是由沉积介质（水流及风）的流动造成的，纹层倾向则表示介质流动的方向。

Crossing bedding, also known as oblique bedding, consists of a series of laminas oblique to the strata layers. The relation between the laminas and the strata layers can be overlapping, interlacing or intersecting. Such laminas are formed by the flow of the sedimentary media (flowing water or wind), and the inclination represents the flowing direction of the media.
